Anyuak noble's compound

Two forked posts and a carved fence support (dikweri) indicate that this entrance way to a homestead is that of one of the nobles of Ukaadi, possibly the leading noble Akwei-war-Alal. Near the entrance is a tree with a thick trunk, probably a shaded seating area known as wic mac. In western and other Anyuak districts, such symbols as dikweri adorn the compound of a headman.
