Investigation Underway After Fatal Shooting on Indy’s West Side

An investigation is currently underway following a shooting that resulted in the death of an individual on the west side of Indianapolis. The incident took place on Wednesday morning in the 7100 block of Pluto Drive.

Police were called to the scene at approximately 6:20 a.m. after receiving a report of a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man outside a residence with gunshot wounds. Despite being initially listed as being in critical condition, the man later succumbed to his injuries. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has detained one person in connection with the shooting.

Authorities have reported that one house in the vicinity was damaged during the incident. The homeowner has been cooperative and is currently assisting investigators with their inquiries, according to an IMPD spokesperson.

Local residents are being asked to review any footage captured by their doorbell cameras between the hours of 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. for any suspicious activity that could potentially aid in the ongoing investigation.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area as it will remain cordoned off for a number of hours while the investigation continues.
