The fire, which broke out at an industrial business located at 30 Nashville Ave, has quickly escalated in scale, prompting a significant response from the fire department. Upon receiving the emergency call at 10:18 a.m., firefighters swiftly arrived at the scene near Rogers Road and Weston Road. The intensity of the fire caused the roof of the building to collapse, leading to the evacuation of all individuals in the vicinity. With winds in the area fluctuating, residents have been advised to close their windows to prevent smoke infiltration.
Deputy Fire Chief Jim Jessop, addressing the press during the operation, revealed that their primary objective is to confine the fire to its point of origin and prevent it from spreading further to neighboring businesses. The hazardous materials team has been deployed to monitor the air quality, ensuring the safety of both firefighters and residents.
Over 22 fire vehicles have been deployed to the scene, with firefighters actively combating the blaze from within the building. As a precautionary measure, several nearby schools have placed themselves in a hold and secure procedure due to smoke concerns, though the specific schools affected have not been disclosed. Additionally, the closure of Weston Road from Black Creek Drive to Rogers Road has been enforced.
