Omod Okuri to fly to South Africa for tryout

January 9, 2011 (ADDIS ABABA) - Omod Okuri of Defence Force and Ethiopia’s top player during the recent CECAFA Challenge Cup tournament in Tanzania, will be heading to South Africa next week for a tryout with a first division club there, reported the Amharic sports website Libro.

Although the report said that Omod submitted a letter of invitation he received from the South African side to his club, Defence Force, it didn’t mention the name of the club.

Omod, who leads the Ethiopian Premier League (EPL) goal scoring chart with 8 goals, is currently in Gambella visiting his family for the holidays.

Omod is also rumored to join EPL defending champions St. George FC on a record transfer fee, the report concluded.
