May 10, 2007 (GAMBELLA) – Registration and collection of heritages have reportedly been underway in Gambella in order to promote the cultural and historical assets as well as natural attractions of the state to tourists coming in the millennium.
Heritages Conservation and Historical Research Expert with Culture and Tourism Bureau, Solomon Tesfa said that the bureau is registering and collecting heritages of five nationalities.
About 53 dowry and gift articles, traditional musical instruments and other household utensils and traditional dresses of the five nationalities have so far been registered collected, according to the expert.
Besides, activities are underway to record the existing heritages, historical places and natural sites in Godere and Gog woredas of the state on video, he said.
A study is underway to construct a museum to bring together the heritages scattered in the state, it was learnt.
