After intense pressure from the international community, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development has postponed a summit originally scheduled to be held Saturday in Nairobi, Kenya and will now take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Daily Nation of Kenya said, Kenya's government received a letter from the International Criminal Court (ICC), calling for the arrest of Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir, if he turns out to attend the summit. Fearing for the arrest of Mr. Bashir, IGAD has postponed the meeting to next week and it will take place in Addis Ababa.
Ethiopia does not recognize the International Criminal Court.
IGAD is a six-country regional development organization in East Africa. Its members include Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda.
