A car in Leicestershire has been left partially submerged in floodwater after heavy rainfall. The incident occurred on Tamworth Road in Ashby de la Zouch on Monday morning. The driver of the Tesla was trapped inside the vehicle but managed to escape through another exit.

Leicestershire Police have received multiple reports of flooding in North West Leicestershire. As a result, Tamworth Road, which goes under a railway bridge, has been closed. Drivers have been advised to avoid the A511 Hoo Ash roundabout in Ashby De La Zouch and find an alternative route.

In addition, the A42 southbound exit slip road leading to the A511 near Ashby has been closed. National Highways cautioned that there is a two-mile backlog of traffic and delays in the area.

The Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service has urged people to avoid driving through floodwaters. Driving into flooded areas can be dangerous and result in accidents. It is important to prioritize safety and follow the instructions of emergency services.
