In June 2010, James Okan Adonyo will take a walk across the stage as he becomes the oldest graduate student in Gambella's history to receive a Bachelor’s degree. James Okan Adonyo story is remarkable. He is become an inspiration to many in Gambella. A Diploma graduate in life science (Biology and Chemistry) in 1980s from the then Kotebe Teachers Training College he taught relentlessly at Gambela Secondary School. He is due to obtain his BA in Educational Planning and Management from the University of Addis Ababa after long years of dedication, commitment and good character that produced young generations. Mr Odonyo enjoyed his teaching profession to help others achieve their academic dreams.
His determination and dedication would help so many young generations who do not value education. Our young boys do not concentrate much in education and do loose hope in the middle. They, then go back to live with the rest who had not thought the importance of education. Looking at James struggle, he is going to be honored with colorful dress of BA graduation. This may look like a dream to many. This must motivate young and adults to continue with their studies without losing hope. Because everything is possible if there is commitment and concentration.
I believe that one day Mr. James Okan Odonyo is going to go for his MA which will lead him to do his Phd. Because he is a strong and clever man comparing to some other young men who make themselves busy with politics.
