Many politicians, national/international legal experts and human rights activities are appealing to the international community and world leaders not to make the pressure easier on the Sudan government from organizing reform in Darfur region.
According to the United Nation, about 300,000 people have died so far and more than three million have been displaced in the region.
The prosecutor for the International Criminal Court has currently charged the president of the Sudanese regime, Omar al-Bashir, with genocide and crimes against humanity.
However, many critics and international observers around the world who know and understand the Sudan politics so well are also appealing to international community and world’s leaders to stop the Bashir’s indictment because this indictment will escalate the killing in Darfur region and may return the entire country into civil war.
Sudan is the largest country in Africa and it is bordered by Egypt to the north, Red Sea to the northeast, Eritrea and Ethiopia to the east, Kenya and Uganda to the Southeast, Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic to the southwest, Chad to the west and Libya to the Northwest.
The country's name derives from the Arabic Bilad-al-sudan, which means the land of the blacks. Sudan has recently emerged as the world’s most failed states according to SPLM Secretary General, Mr. Pagan Amum.
The country has long been plagued by civil war stemming from racial and cultural inequality: most people in Sudan's northern region, which includes the capital city of Khartoum, are Arab Muslims; while most southerners are non-Arab who mainly practice traditional African religions or Christianity.
Sudan President’s ICC prosecution will not improve any Sudan wars’ problemsbecause Sudan has been in civil wars before Mr.Bashir came to power and The International Criminal Court ’s Prosecution will only maximized Sudanese suffering and wars death related.
Mr. Bashir and his government are in defensive position now that mean that they are trying to rescue them selves or put other people in danger [Darfur civilians or UN Forces] by using any mean necessary to protect and defense it self.
Mr. Bashir seems like he is a peaceful man who loves peace because he has recently signed the Comprehensive Peace Agreement [CPA] with Sudan People Liberation Army and formed the government of National Unity that represents all the Sudanese parties in the Sudan Government.
Bashir’s Prosecution will only increase the Sundaes wars and will destabilized the entire country because whoever will come to power after Mr.Bashir, will not respect/honor the existing peace.
However, many of national and international legal experts around the world feel that Mr.Bashir’s ICC prosecution will absolute improve the Sudan wars problem because whoever break the laws after Bashir, will directly go to court like Mr. President al-Bashir.
Bashir did not only instruct/order his militia men/soldiers to attack and kill Darfur people but also created the Jan Jaweed militia to destroy the Fur, Masalit, and Zaghawa ethnic groups in Darfur region, according to Darfur Human Activity, Omer Ismail.
So to bring peaceful resolution in Sudan and rescues it people from these wars, International community, Arabs, African, and ICC leaders should come up with better ways and plans to stop the Bashir’s ICC prosecution and assign him to stop all these wars problems in Sudan on the time frame.
This means that worlds’ leaders should monitor Sudan president with this assignment and prosecution him or remove him from his presidency if he cannot stop the war in Sudan.
Therefore, Sudan president’s International Criminal Court prosecution is the best thing to do to solves the Sudan wars related problems because he failed to lead Sudanese people in peace way and failed to protect it civilians from militias in Darfur region.
Also, it is the best thing to do because whoever violates any ICC Laws will go to court or will be just prosecuted like Mr.Presdient, al Bashir even though Sudan does not recognize the International Criminal Court system as the legitimate Court.
Consider, Charles Taylor for example, was the first former African head of state to be charged with war crimes by The ICC.
