August 27, 2006 (Gambella) – The Gambella Openo Technical and Vocational Training Institute disclosed that it will offer training at diploma level beginning the coming academic year.

Institute Director Representative, Samuel Zewde, told the media today that the institute will start the training as per the decision of the regional government to train students at diploma level so as to curb the shortage of manpower in the state.

Therefore, Samuel said, the institute will start training by admitting outstanding certificate holders and qualified high school graduates who had no access to higher learning institutions.

During the academic year it will offer training in Accounting, Information Technology, General Mechanics and Purchasing and supplies management, he said, adding that it plans to provide training in the fields of Woodwork, Electricity, Building construction and Auto mechanics.

Samuel further said the institute would double its current 580 students intake capacity in the academic year.
