Georgetown Man Sentenced to Prison and Supervised Release for Possession of Child Pornography

A former Round Rock pastor, David Lloyd Walther, has been handed a prison sentence of 70 months and 10 years of supervised release after being convicted of possessing child pornography, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. In addition to his sentence, Walther has also been ordered to pay restitution of $61,000.

The charges stem from a search conducted at Walther’s home and vehicle in November 2022. During the search, law enforcement officials discovered two computer hard drives containing over 100,000 images and 5,000 videos of child sexual abuse material.

At the time of his arrest, Walther was serving as the pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Round Rock. This revelation has sent shockwaves through the community, as many families had placed their trust in him as a leader of faith.

U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza for the Western District of Texas expressed his concern for the affected families, stating, “Many families in the Round Rock area placed their trust in this man when he served as a leader in faith for their community… I hope that those families can find comfort in knowing our law enforcement partners and justice system are committed to protecting them, ensuring that predators such as Walther cannot continue to pose a threat to innocent children.”

Child pornography is a serious offense that exploits and harms vulnerable children. The possession and distribution of such material enable a cycle of abuse and perpetuate the suffering of innocent victims. Law enforcement agencies and prosecutors are dedicated to apprehending and prosecuting individuals involved in these heinous crimes, in order to safeguard children and hold perpetrators accountable.

It is important for communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicions or information about child exploitation offenses to the appropriate authorities.
