Two lanes on the A38(M) Aston Expressway out of town at Dartmouth Circus are currently closed due to recovery work following a road traffic collision. This incident is reported to have involved five vehicles. As a result, there is queueing traffic in the area.
Motorists should be aware that there is congestion extending from the end of the Queensway tunnel to the M6 J6 (Spaghetti Junction) when heading into town. This congestion is primarily due to onlookers causing further delays. On the M6 itself, there are additional queues stretching back to J5 Castle Bromwich in the northbound direction, as well as after J7 Great Barr in the southbound direction.
The two closed lanes on the Aston Expressway are lanes one and two out of the total three lanes. These closures are in place prior to the underpass, following a two-car collision. Additionally, lane one of two remains closed for recovery operations following an earlier five-car collision.
As a result of the ongoing incidents and road closures, the X3, X4, X12, X13, and X14 buses are currently on diversion. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and to follow alternate routes if possible.
Please drive safely and be mindful of the ongoing recovery work and traffic conditions in the area.
