A man in his 20s was rushed to the hospital after being shot in both legs in the Marianus Park area of Derry city on Sunday night. The victim was shot once in each calf. Police in Derry/Londonderry are currently investigating the incident.
Detective Sergeant Ballentine stated that the victim had been shot twice, with two masked men being reportedly involved in the attack. The injured man was taken to the hospital by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and is currently receiving treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
Detectives from Strand Road Criminal Investigation Branch are now working to establish the circumstances of the attack, including the location of the shooting. They are appealing to witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. In particular, they are interested in speaking with anyone who was in the vicinity of Marianus Park at the time the man was found injured and may have witnessed the incident or noticed any suspicious activity.
