In an incident in the Jamaica Street area of north Belfast on Sunday, a man in his 30s was subjected to a vehicle hijacking. The incident took place at around 2.35am when the man was driving a silver Skoda Superb in the area.
The man was punched in the face by an unknown assailant, who then forcefully placed him in the back seat of the car. Another man subsequently entered the vehicle and drove it to the Ligoniel area of north Belfast. Thankfully, the injured party managed to escape in Ligoniel.
The car was later discovered burnt out in the same area. The police have begun their investigation and are urging anyone with information or who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to come forward. This includes any CCTV, mobile, or dash-cam footage that may assist in the investigation.
