A wrong-way crash occurred on southbound I-75 near Caniff Street, resulting in two drivers being hospitalized on Sunday, Sept. 3. Authorities received reports of a wrong-way driver who had struck multiple vehicles on I-375 before proceeding northbound in the southbound lanes of I-75, colliding with several other vehicles, including a Ford.
While most injuries from the various collisions were minor, the drivers of the Ford and the at-fault driver were both hospitalized with serious injuries. The at-fault driver is currently in critical condition.
Southbound I-75 was closed for approximately five hours following the crash.
The at-fault driver, a 43-year-old woman, was found to be driving with a suspended driver’s license. It has not been determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident. The investigation is still ongoing.
