Ethiopia, Sudan to hold talks over border development

The eighth regular meeting of the Ethio-Sudan Joint Border Development Commission will take place next week in the northern tourist town of Bahir Dar, said Ethiopia's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.

The ministry said in a statement that heads of the Tigray, Amhara, Benishangul-Gumuz, Gambella and South Ethiopia People's states will take part in the meeting.

The ministry said the commission's regular meeting, which is held every six months, will discuss on issues of bilateral development of people along the border, border trade as well as issues of peace and security.

Ethiopia and Sudan have a 1600-km long common border and relations between the two countries are generally good.
