Copy of the gratitude letter to Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit
By Anyuak in Diaspora
March 28, 2006
Yours Excellence Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit, First Vice President of the Government of Sudan and the President of the Government South Sudan, please accept our humble thanks and gratitude for opening the doors of the Presidential Palace to the Anyuak people for the first time in history. We thank you for allowing us to present our concerns and for listening to our plight. Since the dawn of liberation movements the Arab regimes treated the Anyuak as outlaws for hosting the movements. As a punishment other tribes, aligned with those regimes, were armed against the Anyuak to implement the divide and rule policies. Our meeting with you in the Presidential Palace gives us the sense of acceptance, recognition and security. To the Anyuak it is a sign of the presence of a government determined to give all citizens equality and freedom. We are very satisfied and pleased with the outcome of the meeting and direct assurance from you. We also once again want to tell the Government that we stand by it to safeguard the CPA through the interim period and beyond. Long Live the SPLA/M. Signed
