The militia attacked Akala Payam, few days after they had stolen cattle in Ajwara village, Adongo Payam, and twice attacked Pochalla town.

The motive of the Murle attack is not known, but a source said that they do usually violate their peace agreement with the Anyuak community by killing members of the community. “They kill people during rainy season when they are sure that their water catchments and swampy areas have got enough water and immediately migrate back to their original home in their lands after shedding the Anyuak bloods.”

The Murle militia attacked Pochalla town twice before in two consecutive days, on 13 and 14 April 2006, a day after they stole 51 cattle from Ajwara village in Adongo Payam. The militia attacked Tierlul North of Pochalla town, a residence of civilians and Lokrien East of the town, which is an inhabitant of armies’ families. The raid claimed lives of 5 persons from both sides.
