The Commissioner of Akobo County, Mr. Doyak Chol, said the Nuer and Anyuak communities in Akobo will work to settle the land issue in upcoming peace conference. Mr. Chol was speaking in Nairobi on Saturday during a meeting with members of the Jonglei state communities.

He appealed to the Government of Jonglei state to convene the peace conference as soon as possible.

Members of the Anyuak community were displaced from their homes in Akobo to other areas in southern Sudan and Ethiopia during the north-south civil war.

Mr. Chol also urged people from Akobo living in the Diaspora or other areas of Sudan to return home and help in the development of the county.
