October 13, 2010 (ABYEI) - The Misseriya tribe has downplayed the possibility of getting into a war in the north-south disputed area of Abyei. The tribe affirmed, however, that it would not give up its historic and geographical rights in the area regardless of the price for that.

The head of Misseriya tribe delegation to the US sponsored talks in Addis Ababa, Rahma Abd Al-Rahman Al-Nur, said in a press conference in Khartoum on Wednesday that the Misseriya wanted the talks to prove its legitimate rights which the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the Arbitration court of the Hague have taken away from them.
Meanwhile, Hussein Hamadi, the technical Coordinator of the Misseriya delegation to the talks, affirmed that his tribe has told the US Envoy Scott Gration that they will be patient and won't respond to provocation.
He said they assured Gration that they will be open minded and flexible if US commits to neutrality, impartiality and realism.
Hamadi warned that the Abyei problem would never be solved by neglecting the Misseriya tribe.
The Misseriya Delegation also announced the resumption of talks by the end of October.
