This school is expected to serve the educational needs that the community is lacking in the Anyuak Kingdom for decades.
Pochalla, County served as a battle field for the fighting parties namely the Sudan Peoples Liberation Army (SPLA) and Sudan Arm Forces (SAF) for almost two decades.
Many Anyuaks sought refuge in neighboring countries fleeing the deadly war that escalated in 1983. In addition, some fled to North Sudan and became internally displaced person [IDPs] in various towns of the region. Others migrated to Europe, USA, Canada and Australia.
Pochalla County, did not win the attention of the international community. It lacks development in the real sense. By the help of this school many students will find chances for a better future. Students who want to join the school are now asked to report to school before the start of the English intensive course.
The newly established secondary school is largely considered to be a step in the right direction. “Fighting poverty starts with education as a major means for development.” Commented one Anyuak fellow.
“We are working together as Pochalla county Anyuak community”, Pastor John Philip, told AM from Pochalla, “We only need visionary people to do the work” he added. Pastor John Philip of the Presbyterian Church is a well-known Anyuak Church leader. He is also famous as a visionary leader. He obtained his theological Studies in Sudan and Kenya.
January 2005 was especial year in the contemporary history of Sudan because it was during that year that the Comprehensive peace Agreement [CPA] was signed by both the Sudan Government and the Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement / Army.
This CPA needs the support of all Anyuak community members around the world.
