December 2, 2008 (Nairobi) — The Governor of Unity State, Taban Deng, partially reshuffled his cabinet on Friday.
The Minister of Information of Unity state, Andrea Kuong Ruach, from Bentiu said that Samuel Lony Geng has been appointed Minister for Local Government, replacing Simon Maguek.
Kuong said that Simon Maguek has been appointed Speaker of the Unity state parliament.
[Andrea Koung]: "What happened was the reshuffle went well and since the new commissioner of Leer was appointed, reshuffling has happened several times in Unity state and it is all for the best. Nobody has lost their job but a new Minister for Administration, Samuel Lony Geng, has been appointed. Brigadier Maguek Gai, the Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement was elected Speaker of the state Legislative Assembly. That is the reshuffle that took place this week in Unity state."
He added that Taker Riak has replaced Franco Duoth as Leer Commissioner.
The changes will take effect immediately.
