A man accused of using a sword to attack a woman and youth on Seacow Pond Beach in northwestern Prince Edward Island is still on the loose. The incident occurred on Friday night, leaving the 42-year-old woman with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the youth suffered minor injuries. The motive for the attack is currently unknown.
Despite rumors on social media that the suspect had been arrested, RCMP Cpl. Gavin Moore confirmed that the man remains at large. He clarified that a post about a high-speed chase in the nearby town of Tignish is unrelated to the sword incident. Moore emphasized that the two incidents are separate and have no connection.
The suspect is described as approximately five feet ten inches tall and was wearing a dark mask, possibly accompanied by a green hoodie during the attack. The investigation is still ongoing, with police conducting searches in the area and following up on leads.
In light of these events, local authorities are urging residents to stay vigilant and look out for one another. They are also encouraging anyone with information about the sword attack to come forward and contact the police, regardless of how insignificant the information may seem.
While the search for the suspect continues, the community remains on edge. Authorities are working diligently to bring the perpetrator to justice and ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in the area.
