Montreal police are currently investigating an attempted car theft that occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday. A patrol car came across a group of individuals stealing a car on Parc Ave. near Bernard Ave. at around 1:30 a.m.
As the police cruiser approached, one group of suspects quickly fled to a nearby waiting vehicle, which then backed into the patrol car before speeding away north on Parc Ave. Meanwhile, another group of suspects headed towards a separate waiting car and fired shots at the officers. This car then drove off in the opposite direction, going south on Parc Ave.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. As of 6:30 a.m., no arrests had been made. The police have since closed off a one-block section of Parc Ave. to traffic in order to allow for the presence of a canine unit and a command post for further investigation.
